About the event
This is a deeply personal art making process inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is pieced back together with gold, exaggerating the beauty of the imperfections from brokeness and age, with grace. Explore the philosophy of Wabi Sabi as a means of self- acceptance and healing.
The Sacred Vessel Workshop is a full day retreat integrating a healing art making process, with a live, immersive, soundscape of singing bowls, chimes and other healing instruments, to help you release the things that no longer serve you and embrace the beauty of your perfect imperfections.
The vessel represents us as an individual, we are vessels that hold many things. But sometimes we break and need to be put back together. Our brokenness changes us, makes us who we are. And so we will each break a bowl to symbolize the trials and tribulaitons of life, and then we will repair the bowl with paint, collage and written word. Expressing through images and words, all the hidden components that make us unique. We finish our work by highlighting the repaired cracks with gold leaf and paint. The finished bowl is a display of your own personal journey, and how all the little broken pieces were put back together to show the true, imperfectly perfect beauty.
